Mystery Peas

Stage 1 of the mystery is solved! One of my mystery peas has flowered and is now producing its very first pod.. beautiful lilac petals and then a lemony-yellow pod! Many thanks to Rebsie at Daugher of the Soil for identifying it as Golden Sweet.. its colourful and beautiful, as well as historical, and I am looking forward to tasting my very first homegrown peas.

Now for stage 2! A second pea plant has a stunning first flower.. a really beautiful two-tone purple bloom.

I'm thinking this one might be purple-podded.. I will be checking regularly to see!

What beautiful colours hedgwitch, they must be a joy to behold. I have never seen such pretty blooms on vegetables.

What gorgeous pictures! My peas have only just sprouted, and the rabbits haven't found them yet, hooray!

If my garden survives, next year I may want to try ordering special things from catalogues. Right now I'm just ecstatic that my store-bought burpee seeds are sprouting. And the one type of seeds that I did order specially are just beginning to show - the calendula.

Aren't they gorgeous! Worth growing just for the flowers. I'll try to remember to take photos of my red flowering peas when they flower - from memory (which can be rather poor, these days), the flowers are scarlet.

Enjoy your peas!

Interesting seeing your two tone purple/lilac flowers. Underneath where the bird feeders are in the winter, I now have 3 "weed-peas" growing up the hornbeam hedge. I assumed they were "sweet pea" growing. However the flowers look identical to your flowers and in the last few days have produced sizable pods. I'll watch with interest.
