I took this picture in Bruges, where it was one of many shrines to the Madonna to be found on street corners. I love how peaceful it is, and how it symbolises the Mother and Child.
So here's to all the mothers of the world and the great mother earth herself.

Hi nutty.. yes, without mothering, there wouldn't be anything (or anyone!) else... I feel that mothering needs to be fully recognised and supported

Claire, I collected several images of these little shrines on my Bruges trip and I loved the way the spiritual was being incorporated into the everyday.
